BE YOUR BEST!

It is VERY important for students to attend ALL of the remaining lessons before the recital- for their own benefit and for that of the class.  Please still come and watch the class if unable to dance!  Wear costumes and correct hairstyles/hair accessories to class at least once to troubleshoot any issues pre-recital! Hip-hop students: reminder to always wear your “mainly white” runners.

 BRING-A-FRIEND WEEK

Students can bring friends to participate in dance classes during the week of Mon.May 27th-

Thurs. May 30th.  If the friend(s) register for a year of classes for the fall, the existing student and the friend will each receive a $25.00 off September tuition!  Please advise Susan.

ADULT CLASSES!!!

We will again be offering adult hip-hop, ballet and tap dance classes for fall 2019.  Let us know if you are interested!  (Hip-hop recital participation encouraged but not mandatory for adults; ballet and tap do not perform in recital.)

EARLY REGISTRATION

Early registration for the 2019-2020 dance season will be held at the studio on Friday, May 31st    3:00-7:00pm (returning students) and Saturday, June 1st , 9:30am-12:00pm (new & returning students).  After the start date of May 31st, registration is ongoing whether at one of our in-studio dates or by phone/drop-off. REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION: COMPLETED REGISTRATION FORM WITH $10.00 REG.FEE, APPLICABLE COSTUME DEPOSIT(S) AND SEPTEMBER 1ST TUITION PAYMENT.  Those concerned with securing a place in a certain class- take note- some classes may fill during early registration.  A schedule of classes will be available after the Victoria Day long weekend but could be subject to slight changes come the fall- check the website periodically.

KITSILANO SHOWBOAT (For our older dancers)

The Kitsilano Showboat is an outdoor stage located at Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver.  Performers of various types entertain the crowd on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings during July and August.  Our date for the Showboat will be early July.  YOU WILL NOT BE PERFORMING AT AND DO NOT NEED TO COME TO THE SHOWBOAT UNLESS NOTIFIED BY SUSAN.

RECITAL VOLUNTEERS  (SAee recital info below)

It is a MUST to have parent volunteers to supervise the younger dancers while backstage at the recital.  To volunteer backstage (in a large gymnasium for the duration of the show or until all of the dancers in your group have been picked up) means that you will not be able to watch the show from the audience.  However, the volunteers will be escorting their group to and from the stage and can watch the performance right from the wings!  You will of course also have the chance to sit in the audience and watch at the dress rehearsal, and there is an optional recital DVD available for purchase.  Volunteers must arrive early-5:00pm if possible- as parents will be wanting to drop off children and line up for their seats.  Volunteers must stay with the group until all of the children have been picked to go home. There is a sign-up sheet posted in the studio.  Thank you!

**Idea: some parents within the same group get together and hire a babysitter to stay in the gym!

RECITAL DVDs

We are thrilled to once again have our recital filmed by Maverick Studios.  As DVDs will not be sold at the recital, they must be pre-ordered -order slips will be at the studio soon.  Any late orders will have to be done through the video company at an increased price.  From experience: video is an invaluable tool for a dancer!  DVDs will be available for pickup during Summer Dance hours, at fall registration (Thursday, August 29th, 4:00-8:00pm) or when classes resume in the fall.

RECITAL INFORMATION

(approx. 3 1/2 hours plus up to 1 hour early arrival time)

LOCATION: Clarke Foundation Theatre

33700 Prentis Ave.(Heritage Park Centre), MISSION, BC

(Take the Lougheed Hwy. into Mission, turn left on Wren St. (first intersection), turn right on 7th Ave., travel a distance until turning left on Stave Lake St., continue until turning right on Prentis Ave.)

***There may be a detour due to the wrapping-up of the Mission Soap Box Derby- THEIR PRESIDENT THANKS ALL DANCE PARENTS IN ADVANCE!***

*All dancers must arrive 1 hour prior to show time and should try to remain for the finale (younger dancers do not have to stay). Parents and other audience members: the line-up for first come, first serve seats begins as early as 5:00/5:15!

*All dancers must go down the hallway to the right of the foyer and to the designated waiting area.  Groups should stay together before and after performing.  Older dancers will be in the green room/dressing rooms; younger dancers will be in the gymnasium gathered under the sign for their group. ***It is the responsibility of all dance parents to have a plan and make sure their children will be looked after during the recital. Talk to the other parents of your child’s group! Every young group in the gym MUST have at least one supervising parent- there will be a sign-up poster in the studio. Parent volunteers needed in the gym as close to 5:00pm as possible so that the other parents can drop off their children and line up for their seats. If parents of very young dancers plan to stay until the end/late hours of the recital, please plan to pick up your child at a reasonable time so that the gym volunteer is not waiting with your child for the entire evening. If parents are sending snacks/drinks with children, please not anything overly messy as costumes can get ruined. You may wish to send something to entertain waiting children ie. books or non-messy colouring/drawing. REMIND CHILDREN THAT THEY HAVE TO STAY IN THE GYMNASIUM WITH THEIR GROUP & VOLUNTEER PARENT(S) SO THAT THEY ARE SAFE!! The teachers are not in these areas- we are backstage.
